Buckwheat - the Only Pillow Filling that Improves with Age

How long have your expensive feather, down, and foam filled pillows been lasting? First of all, the experts tell us that we should discard our pillows every six months due to excessive dist mite infestations. Those disgusting little critters love to live and reproduce in them. Just imagine what your face is lying on after six months. It’s enough to give you nightmares, or at least an allergic reaction.

Feather and foam fillings also deteriorate in their ability to maintain their loft. You can try to maintain it by fluffing them up every day, but you’ll slowly lose the battle.

Buckwheat hulls, on the other hand, improve with use. Over time, use will cause the minute ridges and edges to wear smooth, allowing the malleability of the pillow to slowly improve, reaching near to its supreme best in about one year, still improving, but more slowly after that.

The best part, though, is that the buckwheat hulls do not support the dust mite infestations. When you want to clean the coverings, simply open the nylon zipper, pour the hulls into a plastic bag (which should be supplied with the pillow), wash and dry as you would a pillow case, and replace the hulls, which are now even better than they were when they were new.

If you like, you can spread the hulls in a layer in the sunlight to freshen them. Just don’t do it outside if there is a breeze. People down wind may wonder what those little black flecks are wafting along in the air.

So, replace those dust mite zoos with buckwheat pillows, and replace your nightmares with sweet dreams.

A Buckwheat Pillow for Your Valentine

Is your sweetheart someone who appreciates practical gifts? I realize that candy and red roses are the traditional Valentines Day gifts, but some people actually prefer to be practical - especially in these economic times when it’s wise to make dollars count in really practical ways.

You could kill two birds with one stone by putting a red rose on the white pillow - seems romantic to me. She would be able to enjoy her buckwheat pillow for years to come, considering their durability. The candy and roses will be gone and forgotten in days - well, hopefully not forgotten.

Of course you may be obligated to buy two, so that there are matching pillows on the bed,

This may not work for everyone, but you know your sweetheart better than I do. If you really have to, buy her the candy and roses for Valentines Day, and then really score points by giving her the buckwheat pillows a few days later.

                                                            Happy Valentines Day

Are There Any Disadvantages of a Buckwheat Pillow?

If you’ve been following this blog, I’m sure you know by now that that buckwheat pillows are far superior to all other pillows in so many ways. You know that they are totally malleable, supportive, ventilating, cooling, heat-able, hypo-allergenic, organic, volume adjustable, very long lasting, thus very economical, and over-all, just about perfect.

“But nothing is perfect”, you say. No, sadly, they’re not perfect. They have one serious flaw. They fail miserably at pillow fighting. They have too much mass, unless, of course, you really want to maim your opponent.

Oh, and one more thing. My wife, Doris, just reminded me, that if you happen to get stranded somewhere without your buckwheat pillow, you’ll just have to cry yourself to sleep

The Buckwheat Pillow Challenge-Show Me a Better Pillow

It is quite natural for anyone to be very sceptical of something they know little or nothing about, or may, in fact, never even have heard of. Educating people to accept and appreciate new things sometimes requires an unconventional approach.

I hereby issue a challenge to one and all to show me a better pillow than a buckwheat pillow. You can’t just name some type of pillow - you must back it up with explanatory facts and reasons why any type of bed, travel, or neck pillow is superior to a comparable type of quality buckwheat pillow. One exception though. I’m excluding pillows used for pillow fighting.

May the best pillow win.

Quality Buckwheat Pillows - Their Characteristics

Like most other items being offered for sale, buckwheat pillows come in a wide range of qualities. And, as is true with most other items, you generally get what you pay for.

Many would-be purchasers of buckwheat pillows are at a disadvantage, because they are not really familiar with what makes a good quality buckwheat pillow versus an inferior quality pillow. Here are some suggestions to help identify a good, high quality, long lasting, buckwheat hull pillow.

It is important that it be made of organic, hypo-allergenic components, since you are going to be lying on it with your face or neck in contact with it, and breathing any toxins present all night long. Feathers and foam exude toxins from the pesticides, chemical cleaners, and vinyls used in them. You also want to be sure the buckwheat hulls have undergone a thorough triple vacuuming process to remove any traces of buckwheat flour and  foreign items from the hulls.

You will want to compare the size and weight of pillows in comparison with each other. The larger and heavier , the more size and filling you are getting for your money. You definitely need a discreetly sewn in nylon zipper to allow adjustment of the volume of hulls. This is a very important feature, as different people require different amounts of volume and malleability.

And finally, the quality of the pillow covering material and the stitching are very important to the longevity of the pillows. Remember that the general rule of disposing of pillows after six months of use due to dust mite infestation does not apply to buckwheat pillows as buckwheat hulls do not support dust mites as do foam and feathers.

The quality buckwheat pillow will cost more initially, but will definitely save you a lot of money in the long run. Happy dreams.

Travel Light With a Buckwheat Travel Pillow

Have you ever been on a long auto, plane, bus, or train ride-the kind when you either cruise along in the dark, or across monotinous uninspiring terrain? Next thing, you know, you’re nodding off to sleep. But what do you do with your head? It bobbles around on top of your neck, or dangles from it like a drunken sailor.

That’s when you need a buckwheat travel pillow. Its unique buckwheat hull filling allows the pillow to settle very comfortably into the most uncomfortable crevices, while cradling and supporting your head and neck in the most supportive and comfortable way.

What could have been a boring, uncomfortable part of your trip turns into a relaxing, rejuvenating experience, which makes the rest of your journey so much more enjoyable-all the while being so uniquely light, packable, and inexpensive. Just be sure each of your traveling companions have one. You don’t want your trip to be spoiled by a fight over a pillow (remember, buckwheat pillows should never be used in a pillow fight).

Why Don’t More Westerners Know What Buckwheat Pillows Are?

Do you know that in the Orient, buckwheat pillows have been in use for over 3,000 years? What has caused the Western World to lag so far behind in knowledge and use of the most useful, comfortable, healthy, economical sleeping pillow in the world? Everyone uses pillows. How could we have existed, all using pillows, and yet not know about buckwheat pillows?

I realize there is a small percentage who have known about and used them, but why have they been so secretive about it? Are those who use them so selfish that they want to keep this priceless knowledge all to themselves? What could be the reason? I’m sure there are plenty of buckwheat hulls to make pillows for everyone, and if not, we can just grow more.

Seriously, what do we need to do to get the word out, and educate the Western World to the miracle of buckwheat hull pillows? I hope you will do your part.

If You Have Neck Pain You Should Try This …

After a busy day, most of us are looking forward to getting home and lying in our bed with our nice comfortable pillow. But do you often wake up with a pain in the neck? It is actually caused by improper posture during sleep. The ideal solution would be to start using a neck pillow, since the ordinary one that you’ve been using is the main culprit that caused you those pains in the first place. Regular pillows do not fully support the neck and the spine. Some people tend to forget that sleep plays a major role in keeping the body healthy and rejuvenated.

We should not neglect the importance of pillows, because they play an important part in achieving a relaxed and good night’s sleep. If you have not had a good night’s sleep for a long while, it is time for you to exchange your current pillow for a buckwheat pillow, or at least add a buckwheat neck pillow. Then have a really good night’s sleep and wake up rejuvenated and rarin’ to go.

Sleeping Positions Can Improve Your Rest

Some of us like to sleep on our backs, some on our sides and some on our stomachs. Everyone has a special way that we feel is the most comfortable way to sleep. There are different pillows suited for all of these positions. This is the reason why it is very important to determine your favorite sleeping position before purchasing pillows.

But what if you sleep on three sleeping sides? Don’t fret because there’s still a pillow suitable for all your sleeping positions and that is a buckwheat pillow. Buckwheat pillows are filled with lots of buckwheat husks. They are a little like flattened beans that move and slide around as you adjust the pillow to your liking which makes it perfect for all sleeping positions. And if you happen to have a weak neck, it is best to invest in buckwheat neck pillows as well to complete your desired sleeping comfort.
